This is a fine study in opposites. Take a good look at Dunham Massey watermill (National Trust), and you will see how the artist has cleverly transposed the setting, the mill being painted the wrong way round. This has been done brick by brick, maybe even working from a photograph? Note also the artist's perspective: he is looking up at the mill, whereas on site, if looking at it from his viewpoint, it lies below.
